I suspect that this will take me a long time to write. So, let’s skip the small talk and get right down to business.

I’m writing this tutorial at the request of a past client. If you’d like to request a specific tutorial, contact me with the details and we’ll work something out.

First, I learn. Then, I pass it forward.

Join my email list so I can share the things I learn about Thesis and web development with you. If you own a website, especially a Thesis website, enter your email address below and click "Sign Me Up!"

One of the best parts about being on the Kolakube team is that I get to play with the new stuff before everyone else does. Freebie widgets and button sets are fun. But new skins… new skins are what turn me on the most. :P

Today is a big day for Kolakube because Aroxis, the first responsive skin from Kolakube, drops with style. Take a look at this beauty.

I’m not a huge fan of plugins. I do a lot of consulting, and 9 times out of 10, literally, plugins are the culprit when there’s a problem. It’s like clockwork.

However, as my buddy Alex says, it’s not the plugin that causes issues… it’s the poorly written code in the plugin that is to blame.

With that being said, I like to write my own code or use trusted, prewritten code whenever possible… even if there’s a simple plugin that could easily be added to my WordPress install.

How many of you have a ghost town Facebook page for your business? You know, the page with only 14 Likes and the last status update was from 3 weeks ago.

We’ve all been there. In fact, I’m still in that boat as we speak. Don’t worry about me, though.

I’m here to show you how to take your Facebook page to the next level by adding apps that allow your visitors to interact with your page as if it was your website.

If you’ve used Thesis, you’ve used the Feature Box. It’s pretty much a Thesis law that you have to put it to use.

Most people just use the Design Options to select where the Feature Box will display.

Not me, though. I’m fancy.

At the time of writing this post, my Feature Box changes based on what part of my website you’re on.

Here’s how I do it.

It’s no secret. I love Thesis. The flexibility is amazing.

I’ve developed a rhythm for most of my Thesis installs. Before I have content… before the blog is public… before everything else, I consider doing these 5 things.

Take a look.

Move the NavBar Beneath the Header

Nothing special, right?

By default, the navigation bar is located above the header. I’m not a huge fan of that arrangement.

Everyone’s talking about it. Why shouldn’t I? Responsive design is hot these days. Not because of what it is. More so because people like to talk about what other people are talking about.

Don’t get caught up in the hype.

Most people who rave about responsive design don’t even know what it is or when it’s really needed.

Let me start off by saying that I don’t know if I’m talking to you or myself here.

I just know that anything I go through as a blogger, you will most likely encounter as well.

As I’ve said many times before, this is not an easy game. It’s not so much the difficulty level that makes blogging so frustrating as it is the uncertainty, though.

It seems as if there are almost no constants in the game of blogging.

Sure, we want to blaze our own trails as much as possible but it definitely helps to have a few strategies that we know will produce certain results when implemented.

It’s no secret, using images in your blog posts can add to the value of your work. Of course, the images have to be used properly to have the desired effect.

Finding the right image is not easy, though.

In fact, it’s pretty damn difficult to find the right image, at the right price, with the right restrictions.

If you are not great at finding these images, you could end up wasting hours that could be used for other blogging activities.

Luckily, there are tools created just for bloggers to help find free images.
